What’s a long weekend without two attempts at all-nighters?

Surprised myself and spent a majority of the day exploring the possibilities of making my own fully articulated action figures. One day when I have real skills, maybe I’ll be tempted to do something fully detailed. For now, what would be useful would be to have a figure at scenery scale that is fully posable. The last few hours have been spent monkeying around in polymer clay with wire armatures to make miniature pose mannequins. This has promise.

Now back to compositing. Fariel still has no cranium.

Well, then.  Notes from Thursday:

11:00 PM Thursday night. Taking Friday off to make a 3-day weekend for my birthday, so tonight I’m going for an all-nighter, figuring that I’ll get to bed tomorrow night, wake up whenever on Saturday, probably not later than 10, knowing me, and try to do it again, but get to bed early. Sunday, about 9, just in case. I should be fresh as a daisy come Monday morning, which is pretty dang fresh for a bog monster. Continue reading

Revised eBay selling strategy. The old one stank.

Next step: figure out the shopping cart @ F. W. Balsinger Used & Rare Books. I’ma learn some things. It’s also going to be a jarring disconnect for the eager ag manual seeker who finds me by way of a Google search and sees that main page. Fantasy, horror, sci-fi, agricultural implement manuals. I’m pretty sure I occupy a unique niche with that combo.

And finally got around to stripping the paint from that first cast tile, because I had to know how well paint removes from the urethane resin. Turns out that rubbing alcohol and an old toothbrush do an admirable job. That got the pigments off of all but the tiniest nooks and crannies with relative ease. A day later, and there’s no apparent harm to the tile, either. I think it’s safe to say I completely approve of Smooth-On’s Smooth-Cast 300, at least for my purposes, and at least until I find an equally suitable and less expensive material.  According to my sloppy napkin math, and ignoring time and money spent on design and mold making, the main pieces, floors, wall units, and corner units, will cost about $0.33, $0.50, and $0.67 each, respectively. Unless I start out in small batches using only the trial sized units, then I could see the costs just about triple.  In any event, I have more plans for fun than profit as far as that goes. There’s only so much volume that can move in a month, and it’s not like I foresee it being a full retirement income. But one can dream!

Splash Screen - Episode 01 - Deleting FramesRedesigned my eBay form. Keep it simple, stupid, indeed.

Fixed my shipping policies. Oops.

Added Adam Ant to YouTube playlist.

Revised Patreon tiers…dramatically. Much to produce before I can offer better than that!

Sought for, and found, fonts for Rocky Mountain Bog Monster videos, Zombie Holocaust and Faerie Moot.

Created video title screen.

Onward! And by onward, I mean backward. If this is going to be an intro, I need to start a few steps back before deleting frames is even a thing.

Started organizing Flickr account, decided it was redundant. Almost deleted it, then decided it may as well stick around as another channel for posting images, because sure, why not?

Posted daily log updates for 3/23 and 3/24.

Added Daniel Ash to Spotify playlist.

Created long series of color variations on Chromatic Burst (above). Uploaded to DeviantArt along with many others.

Added The Bolshoi to Spotify playlist.

Idea: Chromatic Burst cast as flooring/wall tiles in resin, decoupaged, and several coats of clear acrylic.

Added to to-do list:

Add The Bolshoi to YouTube playlist.

More to come. All-Nighter Friday was a botch, as I zonked out about 2 AM. No fair. It’s only 11:44 PM Saturday now, and I’m feelin’ fresh as a daisy. Well, as fresh as a bog monster gets, at least. Let’s see what happens.

Explored more planet-making software. For hours. And hours. I think we’ve found a winner. The above is an example of what it will do. In an ideal world, I’d want even more, but the idea for now isn’t to have some software crank out all the finest details. I just need the rough outline, the hint of details yet to be added. Next stop on this front is another visit with The Muse to see what she says.

2 eBay listings.

Started DeviantArt account. Uploaded a few older graphics to get started. [edit: 4K and HD wallpapers of the above illustration are available there, for free, even.]

Much experimentation with various planet-making apps. Still undecided.

Uploaded a wallpaper for Patreon patrons, because I should build that habit well before there’s actual patrons. I’m sure some of these will be more enjoyable than others, but hey, it’s a roll of the dice, right?

Added Adam & the Ants to the Spotify playlist.

Revised the FWB logo and posted for feedback.

Added to to-do list:

Clear Rogh Skoler of old content to prepare for new.

Add Adam & the Ants to YouTube playlist.

Add Daniel Ash to both playlists.

All in all, a good day.
